Cherry Blossom Festival
(April 23 - May 5)
Hirosaki park is the stage for this festival. The bossoms of about
2,600 cherry trees set against background of white castle walls and
ancient pine trees make for a beautiful sight. |

Neputa Festival
(August 1 - 7)
During this summer night fire festival, large lantern-floats are paraded
through town. Their brillianly-colored pictures of warriors ar illuminated
against the night sky and the rhythm of the accomanying large drums
excite one and all. This festival has been desgnated by the Japanese
government as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset. |

Castle Autumn Festival
(middle Oct. - early Nov.)
The setting for this festival, noted for its abundant Japanese maple
trees and chrysanthemum flowers, In Hirosaki Park. As the autumn season
deepens the park resembles a splenid brocade, ablaze with red and
yellow. |

Castle Snow
Lantern Festival
(early Feb.)
A mid-winter pageant of snow and light. The sight of the castle in
the flicking light from yukidoro lanterns made of snow, and
kamakura, small igloo-like snow huts, are dreamlike. |
